We run like a river

（By Pavement） 　　有多少音樂，是我們對歌詞一無所知，對樂手一無所知，對歌曲的意義一無所知，但還是喜愛的呢？我想 Pavement 對我大概符合了滿多這些情況的。 　　喜歡一首歌的原因，說不上來就是說不上來，可能是在初次聽到時正好處在生命中某個特別的時刻，讓歌曲和心境有了一個連結，想反射動作般的。舉個例來說，已經對野人花園沒興趣的我，即使現在聽到首張專輯的 "Universe" 還是會有股特別的感覺。我的時空被拉回到了國中，我坐在靠牆的座位，上課時在牆上偷偷寫了一大串歌詞，以及放學後，在寒風刺骨的傍晚，騎著腳踏車，順路陪著暗戀的女孩回家，心中哼的便是這首歌曲。也因為這首歌，讓我忘不掉這些畫面；這首歌也因為這些心情而讓我一直喜愛它。 　　Pulp 的 "Bob Lind" 也是首讓我現在還會心情變化很大的曲子，也許它沒有 "Common People" 好聽，它也不像我第一次聽到的 "Disco 2000"，讓我因此愛上 Pulp，但是在我高中過得很差的生活時，每個晚上總是難過地入睡，躺在空蕩蕩的床，好像世界只剩下我一個人，這時 MD耳機中傳來的正是 "Bob Lind" 的 " 'til you admit that you're fuck-up, like the rest of us." 聽到這兒，我突然流了淚，而一直聽到曲子最後的 " I just fell down, could you please help me up? 'Cos if you help me maybe I could fall in love again. Na na na...."，我想 Jarvis Cocker 彷彿幫我唱出了我當時的情境。 　　Pavement，對我來說是個那麼遙遠，有點神秘，存在著一股魔力般的樂團。初聽到 Summer Babe 一曲，讓我突然停下所有手頭上正在做的事，就像著魔似的。我不覺得他們唱的是悅耳的旋律，更甚至有許多曲子讓我很不知所云，但是在音樂好像被放了迷藥一般，一切是那麼奇特令人著迷：唱腔是那麼隨意，音樂好像有點粗糙，但是卻是無比親切，我深深地被吸入了一個沒有規矩的世界裡，所有人都是那麼隨意，非常放鬆，懶懶散散，十分歡樂。吉他以及歌聲好比像是在地上拖行的藍白拖鞋，走起路來發出「ㄎㄎㄎ…」的發音。但有時卻像輕快的奔跑，乾淨俐落。 　　喜愛的原因，說不上來就是說不上來嘛。就像在不和諧之中找到一點和諧、在怪異的氣氛中慢慢體會到怪異的美麗之處一樣，Pavement 讓我的感受到的魔力就是這樣吧。 　　我只買了這張 Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain 的 Deluxe 版本，不過對於 Pavement 我還是了解不多，我只知道他們是標準的 Lo-Fi 團，在 1999 年的某場表演由主唱戴著手銬，宣示「這就是待在樂團中的感受」而解散。我不知道團員有幾個人、出過什麼專輯。光靠一張 Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain 就讓他們成為我的愛團之一也十分神奇。 　　其實是因為我正在畫油畫課的作品，畫的正好是帥氣十足的主唱 Stephen Malkmus（人不有時都會望著偶像發呆嗎？）畫累了正在休息，所以寫了這篇 :P 　　 　　很帥吧！我會盡力不要讓他變醜的 :D 　　這首歌是 Range Life，我覺得非常好聽悅耳的一首。 　　「這裡」可以看這首歌的 MV。 ＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝＝ After the glow the scene the stage the set talk becomes slow but there's one thing I'll never forget hey you gotta pay your dues before you pay the rent Over the turnstiles and out of the traffic There's ways of living its the way I'm living Right or wrong it's all that I can do And I wouldn't want to let you be I'd want a range life If I could settle down If I could settle down Then I would settle down I'd want a range life If I could settle down If I could settle down Then I would settle down Run from the pigs the fuzz the cops the heat Pass me your gloves because Crime it is never complete Until you snort it up or shoot it down You're never gonna feel free Out on my skateboard the night is just hummin and the gumsmacks are the pulse I'll follow If my walkman fades then I got Absolutely no one No one but myself to blame don't worry We're in no hurry School's out, what did you expect?
